Enjoy!

Haha... What a weird story.

Hans Zimmer's "Aurora"

I did this quick sketch while listening to Hans Zimmer's "Aurora" - a beautiful A Capella choral piece he composed and dedicated to the victims of the Aurora tragedy earlier this month. I don't know any victims of the shooting, but like the rest of the world I was devastated to hear the news.

Here's the link to listen to Hans Zimmer "Aurora" on Youtube or download the original from iTunes to make a donation.

Coffee Scribbles

Bought a new pack of Tombo pens yesterday.
Never really got into them before but thought I should try it out this week.

So much fun!

Storm Storyboards

Chugging along on these boards and added fixes from Rad and Ian.
I did the big storm scene this weekend. After seeing the latest Batman this story took a kinda dark turn...

But don't worry! Next bit will be happy :)

Had to write "to be continued" at the end to keep me from getting sad :'(

More later this week ^_^

Ah the internet...

Hahaha! Oh my goodness... I don't remember making a live action film with a girl's face melting away but if the internet says so it must be true...?

Little Captain

Some early doodles for the design of the main character from my short film idea "Storm"

Hm. So I grew up with guinea pigs as pets and now whenever I draw my little girl characters they always have guinea pig faces...

Maybe it's my mind telling me I need a pet :3

The Aussie Academy and this Year in Review!

YAAAAAAAAYYYYY! This arrived in the post this week (snail mail from Aus) to say I'm officially a member of the Aussie Academy. Bo and I went to Ralphs and got ice cream to celebrate :)

It's really an overwhelming honour to be accepted into the Academy. I hope I can live up to it! I'm really excited to see the films for this year's Awards cycle.

And it all started with this little film Forget Me Not Short Film, which is soon to be available in the permanent collection of the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia alongside work by other Aussies :)

Here's a little peek at this crazy year in review...

Sun Herald clipping from August 2011
AFI announces the formation of the Aussie Academy. I went to a really nice party in the Rocks and got to meet awesome peeps like Geoffrey Rush and those Home and Away guys!

Woohoo!

All dolled up on the way to the AFI | AACTA Award Ceremony in Sydney, 15 January 2012

Me and my mate James Pearson (Animation Mentor grad) workin the carpet :)

And the prize went to Nullarbor, a really cool CG Short. I got to meet The Lampshade Collective behind Nullarbor (I'm sad I didn't get a photo with them tho) and they're on to more great things with their next project, which looks mega awesome!

So much exciting stuff happening Down Under!

Well, that's it from me for now. Miss everyone back home, hopefully make it back to Sydney and Canberra for Chrissie.

Peace peeps!
